Offshore Blow-Out Preventer (BOP) fluids are critical to the reliability and functioning of the BOP control system. These water based fluids and make-up water supply are normally tested by taking daily or weekly samples that are sent to a lab onshore. This periodic testing may completely miss or at best delay the corrective action of an event of poor quality fluid that has made its way to the BOP equipment. Continuous and or periodic filtration helps maintain the high level of cleanliness recommended by the BOP control system manufactures.

The Subsea Company’s compact modular pump skid delivers up to 33 GPM of flow and can be placed almost anywhere near the mix tank. Designed specifically to work in conjunction with our BOP Fluid Quality Monitoring & Filtration Panel, it can also be utilized to deliver clean water or concentrate to the mix tank. Power can be applied manually or automatically as required.

Aside from the improved fluid quality the continuous filtration provides, The Subsea Company has monitoring equipment that can capture NAS or ISO standard levels of fluid cleanliness, pH or conductivity indications of dissolved solids. Analysis of this data and correlating it with known events and activity surrounding BOP fluid make-up, storage and use will assist the subsea engineer to eliminate the occasional incidents that cause poor BOP fluid quality thus reducing downtime and saving money.

Our customers can rely on our exclusive BOP Fluid Conditioning and Monitoring systems to improve their BOP fluid quality and reliably capture data that will allow them to track fluid quality and improve their subsea BOP control system reliability.

Offshore deepwater drilling operations normally require pressure testing of the auxiliary lines while running riser. Failure to test the riser while it is being deployed can lead to pulling it back and incurring excessive non-productive time that could have otherwise been avoided.

The test panels control the flow of BOP fluid into the lines being tested and the integrated mechanical chart recorder documents the successful pressure test. After each test, the pressure is released through the vent function on the test panel. This frequent testing requires reliable valves and plumbing that can be easily serviced and replaced when the inevitable wash out from high velocity turbulent flow compromises system integrity.

The Subsea Company design makes it easy to replace worn components and fittings minimizing down time caused by this severe service. The panels use valves sized to allow for quick testing and the integral relief valves protect from over pressure.

Many offshore drilling contractors are experiencing BOP component failures on their new or recently serviced BOP drilling controls. Pressure testing of these controls and vetting their long term integrity by cycle testing to remove infant mortality helps drilling contractors assure they are putting good components on their BOP stack. The test bench can also provide a record of component performance to support accountability for repairs and supplier quality reporting.

Test bench configurations are easily configured to accommodate the users test criteria. The modular test bench design allows customization of system configuration to achieve the customer’s desired test plans.

Up to eight channels of digital hydraulic signatures or a simple mechanical paper chart can be provided to record test data. Panels for display and control of pressure and flow are laid out to optimize testing protocol and ease of operation. The simplicity of the modular design also lends itself to easy maintenance and serviceability.

Customized brackets are secured in the test bed to hold any BOP manufacture’s control components and easily interface manifold blocks with hydraulic hoses for testing.

With dozens of high pressure swivels for choke & kill, mud boost and hydraulic lines in service without any failures, it’s time to let the world know we have a fully vetted and reliable product that is giving our customers peace of mind.

Low Torque 360 degree rotation under full system pressure, reliability under extreme offshore conditions and field serviceability were the drivers of our robust Heavy Duty High Pressure Swivel design.

Pressure pulsations, extreme axial and lateral loading caused by the swinging and flexing of high pressure drape hoses will cause inferior swivels to fail creating critical system pressure loses and significant non-productive time events.

The Subsea Company swivel design utilizes heavy duty name brand roller bearings to handle the extreme axial and lateral loading typically found during offshore drilling operations. Using our High Pressure Swivels for all your under pressure swivel requirements and to position hoses for flange alignment during make up saves time and money.

October 16, 2015 (Houston, TX) – The Subsea Company adds NAS/ISO fluid quality monitoring to their innovative BOP Fluid Conditioning & Monitoring System. With several systems already in the field, customers are reporting much improved BOP fluid quality. Independent laboratory tests concluded the “system is effective at reducing the biological burden” in BOP Fluid samples provided.

The BOP Fluid Quality Monitoring System is designed to continuously recirculate the mixed BOP fluid while exposing it to a series of filters and UV light. The integrated particle counter reports to a data logger that will monitor and graph the BOP fluid quality by ISO or NAS standards. The data logger can then actuate alarms lights and outputs when readings exceed preset alarm levels. Conductivity or pH of the fluid can also be recorded on the data logger for trending and alarm purposes.

Drilling Contractor saves $800K working with The Subsea Company http://thesubsea.com/2015/08/drilling-contractor-saves-800k-working-with-the-subsea-company/ http://thesubsea.com/2015/08/drilling-contractor-saves-800k-working-with-the-subsea-company/#comments Tue, 18 Aug 2015 15:17:17 +0000 http://thesubsea.com/?p=2370 Learn More [...]]]> Drilling contractor saves $800K working with The Subsea Company to solve their OEM related parts issue.

May 2015, a drilling contractor was advised by an OEM that the solution to a reoccurring equipment failure was going to cost 1.2 million dollars in new parts even after the OEM had lowered the price three times. The Subsea Company was able to provide parts exceeding the OEM specifications with tight quality control and databooks for less than $400,000 – saving the customer $800,000 on just one type of part.

During these current market conditions and the cost savings initiatives that all drilling contractors are facing, this sort of unexpected expenditure can be devastating to any operational budget. Having worked with The Subsea Company before, the drilling contractor requested we look at the problem and quote a viable solution. By listening to the drilling contractor and working closely with them, The Subsea Company learned there were also corrosion issues with this component and provided a solution that not only addressed the material deficiency but also provided a special coating to more effectively address corrosion.

If you are having any budgetary issues meeting your operational needs, safety or downtime issues, contact sales@thesubsea.com and tell us about your situation. You will be pleased with our responsiveness and solutions as we “Innovate Tomorrows Standards.”
